About this trip
Gunung Halimun is a mountain rainforest west of Bogor, known for cool air, waterfalls and clear rivers. On this trip we hike into the forest with a local guide and set up camp beside the river.
The afternoon is free for swimming, exploring the riverbanks and learning a little about the plants and birds of the area from your guide. Dinner is cooked over the fire, and in the morning we take a different trail out past a waterfall.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Hike in and make camp
Meet at the village trailhead around 10:00. Guided hike of roughly two hours through the forest to the river camp. Lunch, afternoon swim and exploring, campfire dinner.
Day 2 – Waterfall trail out
Sunrise coffee by the river, breakfast, then hike out on a different trail past a waterfall. Back at the trailhead around 13:00.
